O Happy Daye
My parents were not expecting to have a third child. They already had two girls, so my Dad was hoping for a boy. I surprised them in many ways!
I just barely made it in the month of January and was named Rebekah after my great grandma. No one calls me that now. There are 3 people who call me Bekah, 3 who call me mommy, 1 who calls me Babe and the rest call me Becky.
From my earliest memories, I have loved to smile. I also like to make others laugh. I take Proverbs 15:13a seriously- “A happy heart makes the face cheerful”.
I went on a missions trip to Australia the summer between my junior and senior years of high school. It was in a field, with a journal in hand, watching kangaroos hop across the far end of the field that I committed to serving God with my life. I had no idea what that would look like, but I knew that joy- true joy- would only be found in getting to know Him more and serving Him with all of my heart.
I attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL where I studied International Ministries (missions). I met my husband, Dave Daye during my sophomore year and we were married the summer after we both graduated from Moody. Dave pursued a seminary degree while serving as a youth pastor and I worked at a bank in Chicago.
For 13 years, Dave served in 3 different churches in youth and associate pastor roles. God had been calling him to a senior pastor position and in August of 2011, we moved to Rochester, NY where he started as the pastor of Orchard Community Church.
I love serving by his side. I am passionate about teaching my children to fall in love with Jesus. I love the opportunity to build relationships with other women and point them to Jesus. I am full of creativity, though not particularly skilled at any particular craft. I enjoy travelling, conversations over a cup of coffee, new experiences, time with family and my most recent passion- writing.
I hope that you will join me on this journey- daye by daye.
